The historic Montrose Theater

The Montrose Theater is a historic gem nestled in the heart of downtown Montrose, providing a nostalgic small-town movie experience for generations of families. From the first showing in 1917, this theater has offered a diverse range of entertainment options, from movies to live performances and engaging workshops. With its charming vintage feel and welcoming atmosphere, the theater has continued to evolve with the times—balancing beloved classics and modern releases while maintaining its old-fashioned warmth. As one of the community’s most enduring landmarks, it stands as a reminder of Montrose’s dedication to preserving history while creating meaningful spaces for connection and fun.

Nate and Tammy Cain currently operate the theater and have brought a beloved part of our town back to life.

The Garden Club

Founded in 1905 by Miss Caroline Morris, the Garden Club of Montrose holds the distinction of being one of the oldest garden clubs in Pennsylvania—and possibly the nation. What began as a gathering of women passionate about hands-on gardening soon blossomed into a cherished local institution dedicated to horticulture, conservation, and community beautification. Members have long upheld the tradition of “digging in the dirt,” fostering an appreciation for the natural world while improving public spaces and preserving Montrose’s historic charm. Over the decades, the club has hosted educational programs, plant sales, and community beautification projects that reflect both its heritage and its ongoing commitment to cultivating beauty and stewardship throughout Montrose.
